The nocturnal lighting maps being developed by this project, based on photographs taken from the International Space Station (ISS), aim to detect excessive amounts of light and inefficient sources. In this way, giant steps will be taken to protect the planet from harmful light pollution. In addition, the best enclaves for observing the stars will be located.
Citizens can participate in the task of classifying the thousands of photographs that come from the EEI through three mobile applications: DarkSkies, Lost at Night and Cities at Night. You also have the option to play Night Knights to help with photo sorting for mapping.
